Vartavar Joy and a Powerful Presentation with Ani Hovannisian

Last Sunday, our parish community came together for a joyful celebration of Vartavar, one of the most beloved feasts of the Armenian Church. In remembrance of the Holy Transfiguration of our Lord, Der Hayr conducted Antasdan service and sprinkled everyone with blessed rose water—a beautiful tradition symbolizing the renewal and grace that flow from Christ’s divine light. The celebration continued outdoors with children playing water games, making memories and enjoying the summer sunshine.

Following the festivities, we were honored to welcome Ani Hovannisian, acclaimed filmmaker and storyteller, for a special presentation of her award-winning documentary, The Hidden Map.

During Fellowship Hour hosted by the Parish Council, Ani shared her deeply moving journey into the heart of the Armenian past—an exploration of truth, memory, and resilience that captivated everyone in attendance. Her presence and personal insights added a profound layer to an already meaningful day.

We thank Ani for joining us and all who came to celebrate and reflect together. Please see the attached flyer for more about The Hidden Map.
