The 124th Assembly of the Eastern Diocese, held from April 30 to May 2, 2026, brought together clergy, parish leaders, and delegates from across the Diocese for a time of reflection, collaboration, and vision for the future of our Church. Presided over by Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan—who was re-elected as Primate during the Assembly—the gathering centered on the theme “Renewed in Hope,” emphasizing faith, unity, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Hosted by St. John the Baptist Armenian Church of Milwaukee, the Assembly featured thoughtful presentations, ministry reports, and important discussions, including updates on the St. Vartan Cathedral renovation project and the continued growth of diocesan ministries. A highlight was the panel presentation led by Diocesan Council leadership and Fr. Hratch Sargsyan, reflecting on the work and direction of the Diocese.
From our Cleveland parish, we were represented by Der Hratch Sargsyan, Dina Ohanessian (Parish Council Chairperson), Dn. Serop Demirjian (Delegate), and Mona Karoghlanian (Diocesan Council Member), who participated actively in the proceedings and brought back valuable insights for our community.
The Assembly also included the annual Awards Banquet, honoring Ara Cherchian and John Kaishian as Armenian Church Members of the Year, and Dr. Robin Darling Young as Friend of the Armenians.
The gathering concluded with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, reminding all present that our work and mission are always rooted in worship and in Christ, who continues to guide His Church forward in hope.
